At the Vincent-Ruz Lab, we are passionately committed to transforming chemistry education research by centering equity, justice, and evidence-based innovation. As a proud part of a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), our mission is deeply rooted in empowering Latine students and dismantling systemic barriers in STEM.
We are a dynamic chemistry education research lab dedicated to exploring transformative questions: How do students develop their science identities? How can culturally relevant pedagogy and place-based learning be used to design evidence-based curricula that center students' lived experiences, and epistemologies? What forms of cultural capital students bring to the classroom and how does that shape their career trajectories? Through our work, we strive to create inclusive, transformative learning environments that honor the diverse experiences and strengths of all students, ensuring that chemistry education is not only accessible but also empowering for everyone, especially historically marginalized communities.
